Mapei Topcem fast drying screed
Mapei Topcem is a normal setting, shrinkage-controlled binder for screeds, which, thanks to its rapid drying properties, hardens within 24 hours and is completely dry, whatever the thickness, within 4 days.
As such, it is ideal for all projects, in particular where time is at a premium.
It can be used indoors and outdoors and on both new and existing concrete, for the formation of bonded, unbonded and floating screeds.
Ceramic tiles can then be laid after only 24 hours, natural stone after 3 days and resilient flooring and wood after 4-7 days.
Mapei Topcem is also ideal for the provision of screeds incorporating underfloor heating
Using Topcem allows the underfloor heating to be commissioned after only 4 days.
Example Applications
- Formation of screeds set to light foot traffic after 12 hours and completely dry after 4 days, for laying resilient flooring and 4 days for wooden flooring.
- Formation of screeds on which ceramic tiles can be laid after 24 hours and natural stone after 2 days.
- Patching and repairing floor screeds where rapid restoration is required.
- Preparation of screeds incorporating underfloor heating systems without the need for polymer additivies.
- Suitable for interior and exterior use
- Bonded screeds and patching (less than 35 mm thicnkesses) first require the application of a Topcem and Planicrete anchoring slurry.
- For floating screeds (thicknesses above 35mm) lay a polyethylene sheet beforehand.
Technical
- Recommended mixture ratio: 200-250 kg of Topcem with 1 m3 aggregates (0 to 8 mm diameter) and with 120-140 kg of water for dry aggregates.
- Open time of the mixture: 40-60 minutes.
- Set to light foot traffic: after 12 hours.
- Waiting time before installation: 24 hours for ceramic tiles and 2 days for natural stone.
- Residual moisture after 4 days: less than 2%.
- Storage: 12 months.
Consumption
2-2.5 kg/m2 per cm of thickness.
