Mapei Mapelastic Smart for Waterproofing concrete surfaces

Mapelastic Smart is a two component, high flexibility cementitious mortar, for waterproofing concrete surfaces, balconies, retaining walls, terraces, basins and swimming pools and for protection against aggresive chemical agents.

Where to Use

Mapelastic Smart is used to protect new concrete structures, concrete structures repaired using special mortars from the Mapeigrout or Planitop ranges, renders with hairline cracks and cementitious surfaces in general which, being subject to vibrations, may suffer from cracking, and for waterproofing hydraulic projects such as channels and faces of dams and swimming pools, basins, storage tanks, balconies and terraces.

• Waterproofing bathrooms, showers, balconeies, terraces, swimming pools etc, before laying ceramic tiles.
• Waterproofing plasterboard, rnder or cementitious surfaces, lightweight cement blocks and marin-grade plywoord.
• Flexible protection layer of new concrete strcutres or repaired structures subject to minor deformation under load.
• Protection of cementitious renders or concrete with cracks due to shrinkage, minor movement caused by thermal gradients or dynamic stresses due to the passage of vehicles, against infiltrations of water and aggresive elements from the atmosphere.
• Protection of concrete pillars and joints and road and railway viaducts repaired with products from the Mapegrout or Planitop range.
• Protection of structures with an inadequate layer of concrete over the reinforcement rods against penetration of aggressive elements.
• Protection of concrete surfaces which may come into contact with sea water, de-icing salts, such as sodium or calcium chloride, and sulpahtes.

Technical Data

• Pot life: 60 minutes.
• Waiting time: 4-5 hours between each coat; 5 days before laying ceramic.
• Colour: grey.
• Application: by brush, roller or spray-rendering machine.
• Storage: part A: 12 months; part B: 24 months. Protect from frost.

Consumption

approx. 1.6 kg/m2 per mm of thickness when roller or brush applied;

approx. 2.2 kg/m2 per mm of thickness when spray applied.
